  • Today Mr.Cooper had to climb out the window to get the hose to fill up the big tank.   But we might have a problem.   The tubes that the water comes out need air to come up to fill the bell siphon.   This might make a serious problem or leak.   Meanwhile  we have counted and we have exactly 27 fish:  1 large mouth bass, 5 sunfish and 21 bluegills.   We have also learned how to tell a bluegill from a sunfish.   Well if you look on their gill, there will be a solid black dot or black and yellow dot .  If there is a solid black dot the fish is a bluegill.  If there is a black and yellow dot the fish is a sunfish.  We have all of the materials we need for our aquaponics system.  We are growing strawberries, carrots, peppers and beans.  This has been an awesome experience .  That is your weekly update on our awesome aquaponics system.

Great job Elise! I learned a lot about the fish and the system. Will the class get to eat the strawberries, carrots, peppers and beans?

Yes, the class will be able to eat all of the food. In fact, we already have a bean.

Very informative. I appreciate the pictures. It really helped me to see the differences in the fish.
